Computer as a wonder of modern science /Computer

We live in the age of science. Science has given man so many wonderful gifts. Computer is one of them. But it is the most wonderful machine that man has ever invented

. It is in fact, the greatest wonder of modern science. It has been doing unbelievable benefits to man. In this age, man can’t live without science.

Invention of computer:

Before invention of computer man lived in Dark Age. But an English mathematician bought computer light for this modern human being. So Charles Babbage is called the father of modern computer. At first he invented the structure of computer in 1833. It had five parts. But an American scientist Howard Akin of Harvard University invented the computer in 1937. This machine could do difficult sums. At the very beginning it was created just for sums. And at this moment computer can do everything.

Function of computer:

 There are three function of computer machine.

Ø It receives data

Ø It processes data by various computations and

Ø It emits

Importance part of computer:

A computer consists of five major components. These are the input unit, the output unit, the memory unit, the control unit and the arithmetic unit.

Working system:

The input and output units consist of devices that permit a computer to receive or exhibit information. The memory unit is the component unit where all data and results are stored.  The control unit coordinates all the activities of the various units of the computer. The arithmetic unit performs the computer and logic operations. The computer does not work in our language. It has a machine language and accordingly it functions.

Use of computer:

Computer is of great use to us. It is used in our daily life for various purposes. Computer has made a great change in education. To prepare study materials, the students of developed countries use computer. It is used in printing books, preparing results of various examinations. Computer is used by Doctors to diagnose diseases and in emergent operations. In industrial sector computer is used to run mills, factories and industries. Trains, planes and cars are run by computer. Every bank, insurance company, important government and non-government office use computer. Educated person can earn money by outsourcing through computer. So now computer is store house of knowledge. We bring the world in our hand with computer.  

Demerits of computer:

With the increasing use of computer man is becoming more and more dependent on them. Sometimes computers give wrong results if there is any defect in the programming. Then it may bring about untold disaster.

Although it has some defects, the benefits and uses of computer are so great that we cannot underestimate them now. It has curtailed human labors and given more facilities for us. We are greatly indebted to computer for our present comfort and convenience.
